Commonplace
Of all who question Christian at the Palace, Charity asks why he did not bring his wife and children, and whether his life undid his words to them. He weeps at the first of these two, and to the second answers, “I cannot commend my life.” Why should these questions come from Charity? Number her questions, and mark the one he finds hardest to answer.
